Treatments
At our practice, you can count on a wide rage of dental treatments — from preventive care and aesthetic procedures to specialized endodontics and restorations. We combine personal attention with modern technology to provide you with the best possible care. On this page, you will find an overview of the main treatments we offer, always with a focus on comfort, quality, and a healthy, radiant smile.
Intake - First consultation
During the intake, we take the time to assess your oral health and discuss your wishes. We perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, jaw joint, and oral tissues. If necessary, we take X-rays to detect hidden issues. Based on this first appointment, we create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and expectations. The intake is an important starting point for long-term, customized dental care.
Regular Check-up
A regular check-up is an important moment to have your oral health evaluated. The dentist checks your teeth, gums, and fillings for problems such as cavities, gum disease, or wear. X-rays are often taken to detect hidden issues. Routine check-ups (usually every 6 months) help detect and treat dental problems early. You will also receive advice on oral hygiene, brushing, and other preventive care.
Controleafspraken (meestal elke 6 maanden) helpen om gebitsproblemen vroeg te ontdekken en te behandelen. Ook krijgt u advies over mondhygiëne, poetsen en andere preventieve zorg.
Dental Cleaning
A professional dental cleaning removes tartar, plaque, and stains in hard-to-reach areas. This helps prevent gum disease and cavities. During the cleaning, your teeth are thoroughly cleaned and polished. If necessary, we use an air-polishing device (airflow) to gently and effectively remove stubborn discolorations caused by coffee, tea, or smoking.
Regular cleanings keep your teeth healthy and fresh.
Preventive Care for Children
Permanent molars have deep grooves where cavities can easily develop. With a protective layer, called a sealant, we close off these grooves. This prevents bacteria and food residues from accumulating there and provides an extra barrier against tooth decay.
Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and makes it more resistant to acid attacks from bacteria. Regular fluoride treatments can therefore help prevent cavities and promote strong, healthy dental development.
Intraoral scanner
The intraoral scanner is an advanced digital technology that quickly and accurately creates three-dimensional impressions of the mouth, without the use of traditional impression materials, which are often experienced as uncomfortable. This increases patient comfort, supports communication and understanding of the treatment, and allows the precise fabrication of restorations such as crowns, bridges, and veneers, as well as orthodontic appliances, night guards, and sports mouthguards.
Dental Imaging, OPT and CBCT
Dental imaging, such as X-rays and 3D scans, is an important tool for accurate diagnosis and treatment. It enables the dentist to detect issues that are not visible to the naked eye, such as cavities between teeth, bone loss, or infections. Modern digital techniques produce sharp images with minimal radiation exposure, ensuring safe and effective care.
Treatment of Gum Disease
Gum inflammation occurs due to plaque and bacteria buildup. In the early stage (gingivitis), the gums are red, swollen, and bleed easily. If untreated, it can develop into periodontitis: a deeper infection that affects the jawbone and can eventually cause teeth to loosen.
Treatment consists of professional cleaning above and below the gumline (deep cleaning or root planing), sometimes supplemented with additional therapy in severe cases. You will also receive advice on oral hygiene and the proper use of cleaning aids such as interdental brushes.
Early treatment prevents permanent damage and helps keep your teeth healthy.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth can become discolored over time due to coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, or natural aging. With professional whitening treatment, you can safely and effectively restore the natural brightness of your teeth.
In our practice we offer an at-home whitening method . We make custom whitening trays and provide professional whitening gel for you to use at home. You wear the trays for a few hours a day or overnight, for several days. This method is effective, comfortable, and gentle on tooth enamel.
Before treatment, we check whether whitening is suitable for your teeth and provide clear instructions for safe use.
Please note: teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by health insurance..
Fillings
A filling is a common treatment to restore a cavity (tooth decay) in a tooth or molar. If left untreated, tooth decay can spread and cause pain or even infection. During the procedure, the dentist removes the decayed part of the tooth and restores it with a durable material, usually composite (tooth-colored filling material).
Crowns, Bridges, and Other Restorations
A crown is a cap placed over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, function, and aesthetics. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring them to the adjacent teeth. Both are custom-made in a dental laboratory and usually placed over two appointments.
When a tooth is partially damaged but does not require a full crown, an inlay, onlay, or overlay may be chosen. These are strong, custom-made restorations that provide extra reinforcement and fall between a filling and a crown.
Root canal treatment (endodontic treatment)
A root canal treatment is necessary when the nerve (pulp) of a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. This can be caused by deep decay, a leaking filling, a tooth fracture, or trauma. Without treatment, the infection can spread to the jawbone and cause severe pain.
In our practice the treatment are performed with the help of a operative microscope. This allows us to work to the finest detail, ensuring more precision, better cleaning of the root canals, and a higher long-term succes rate.
A root canal treatment saves the natural tooth and prevents it from being extracted. After successful treatment, the tooth can function for many more years.
Retreatment of a root canal
Sometimes a tooth does not heal completely after an earlier root canal treatment, or a new infection develops later. In that case, retreatment may be necessary. The old filling material is removed, the canals are thoroughly cleaned again, and carefully refilled. Thanks to modern techniques such as magnification with a microscope and advanced disinfection methods, we can often still save the tooth and prevent further problems.
Apicoectomy (Apical surgery)
An apicoectomy is a surgical procedure in which the inflamed or infected root tip of a tooth is removed along with the surrounding inflamed tissue. This treatment is performed when a standard root canal treatment is not sufficient, or when an infection develops again over time at the root tip. With the use of an operating microscope, we can work with great precision, significantly increasing the chance of successful healing.
Tooth Extractions
Sometimes teeth or molars need to be extracted when they are severely damaged, infected, or beyond saving. The dentist ensures the treatment is carried out safely and as painlessly as possible. After extraction, you will receive instructions for proper healing. If necessary, we will also discuss possible replacements, such as implants or bridges.
Invisible Braces
An invisible brace, such as Invisalign, is a modern and nearly invisible way to straighten teeth. Using a series of custom-made, transparent aligners, teeth are gradually moved without the need for visible metal braces. The aligners are removable, making brushing and eating easier. This treatment is comfortable, discreet, and effective for various types of tooth alignment corrections.
