Without treatment, the infection can spread, causing pain or abscess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This can be caused by, among other things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deep cavities (tooth decay)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A leaking old filling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A crack or fracture in the tooth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A blow or an accident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inflamed pulp does not heal on its own. If nothing is done, the infection can spread to the bone around the root, causing more pain, swelling, and sometimes even an abscess. However, sometimes a two-dimensional image does not provide all the information needed for a reliable diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In complexe situaties kunnen wij daarom een <strong>3D CBCT-scan<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/schiedam.3dtandarts.com\/en\/cbct\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1934\">3D r\u00f6ntgenfoto&#8217;s<\/a>) adviseren. Working under magnification (microscope)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">We work <strong>under magnification (microscope\/magnifying loupes).<\/strong>. This allows us to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate fine root canals more easily<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow bends and branches more accurately<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove old root fillings more effectively during retreatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The better we can visualise the canals, the greater the chance of a long-lasting result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"4-reinigen-en-desinfecteren-van-de-kanalen\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Filling the root canals<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the canals are clean and dry, they are <strong>three-dimensionally padded<\/strong> with a special filling material and a root cement. This prevents re-invasion of bacteria as much as possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"6-tijdelijke-of-definitieve-restauratie\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">6.
